Introducing The Instinctive Philosopher
A new parenting publication written by carers of all kinds
Last week I launched a new publication, The Instinctive Philosopher. My goal is for it to be an ensemble publication written by 'carers' -- people who parent others in some way or another. I’ll still post more ‘personal’ essays here but I wanted a place for wider-reaching essays about parenting and the path to motherhood.
I posted the first essay last week, on my experience breastfeeding my only daughter. I received many responses to that essay from friends and relatives who struggled in similar ways. While I suspected my challenges weren't as unusual as lactation advocates had suggested, I was surprised how common some of them -- as well as the deep feelings of guilt and shame -- ended up being.
You can read the essay here, as well as subscribe. If you're interested in contributing to The Instinctive Philosopher, you can also email me at attemptedblog@gmail.com
